LegionThirteen Creative Director’s Clothing Line Secures Global Licensing & Distribution Deals
From “Jersey Shore” to Holly Madison to Tokyo & Beyond, Jason Leone’s SKULLebrities® Brand Gaining Momentum
Providence, RI (August 18, 2011) LegionThirteen, a forward-thinking integrated branding firm, today announced that creative director Jason Leone’s SKULLebrities® t-shirt line has inked licensing and distribution deals in North America, Europe and Japan. What started as a personal project made it all the way to Hollywood and is now a global brand. It was a friend of Leone’s being photographed wearing his design that caught the eye of a licensing agent and set everything in motion for Leone.
I’ve known “D.J. Pauly D of ‘Jersey Shore’ for years, so when he wanted a shirt, I was happy to give him one,” said Leone referring to what turned out to be the brand’s big break. “The next thing I know, Pauly D is wearing my shirt in a photo in US Weekly and I’m getting a request from Holly Madison to send her one. From there, things just took off.”
Very quickly, Leone started sifting through proposals from licensing agents with opportunities in America and around the world. He now has deals in place in North America, Europe and Japan and is working to close deals in Southeast Asia and Latin America.
“I maintain creative direction over everything, which was a must,” points out Leone. “As the designer, I work with the product and merchandising teams to develop product ideas as well as packaging and promotional elements to further promote the brand. When I am completely satisfied, we take it to market.”
SKULLebrities currently has a full line of t-shirts, decals, buttons and magnets, all of which are outperforming expectations at retail. Leone is currently working on designs for additional products including skateboard decks.
“I’m an artist and a designer, that’s all I ever wanted to be,” concluded Leone. “But the business side of things has forced me to think like an entrepreneur almost overnight.”
